Slovenia is a small country that borders on Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia.

It isn’t rare that people confuse Slovenia with Slovakia and vice versa… It doesn’t even make us angry. We just think that people are ignorant and not that our country is to small and not important enough to be known. Only when we say that Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia people say: “Oh, yes! I heard about Yugoslavia!” So this is link – you tell people the connection with Slovenia and Yugoslavia and the problem is solved. One of my colleagues got a brilliant idea.

Slovenia should be called SEXY,  that stands for Slovenia EX Yugoslavia!

Siddharta is one of my favourite slovenian bands (besides Big Foot Mama, Nude,…). I prefer their older  songs, so I’m giving you the chance to listen to one of them in english version.Of course slovenian version is better, but due to the language barriers the english one will have to do.

The video shows an obsessive affection of the leading actor towards the actress, which brings him to killing. The penalty is death by electric chair. The band – the jurors – observe the execution as the couple is finally reunited after death with tombstones placed side by side. Due to its controversy the video made a significant impact on the Slovene public.

After all this time that passed by without any posts added by me all I have for you is one short one. I’m sorry about that but I don’t have any time what so ever. There is this Internship, writing of my thesis and exams that I have to deal with…All that is challenging and demanding thing to do and since I have to deal with deadlines I have no time to write or do things whuch i usually do. Sometimes in life you just have to set some priorities to reach goals you want so bad. So that was sort of Introducion for all of you who kept on viewing for some new posts on my blog.

And and and – I haven’t forgotten – I have news for you. Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia) was chosen by Rough Guides for one of the top ten cities in the whole world! that is good to visit during summer time.

And one other thing – in my home village (Jarše) local kids made the longest hoptscotch in the world and they will get their names written in Guiness book of records! Amazing, isn’t it? Small Slovenia is becoming known and talked about (after being part of JAR experience?!).

Last Friday I went with my friends to the Slovenian village Padna, which lies in the hills by the sea side. We enjoyed the beauty of nature, went for a walk and had fish picnic. I posted some photos for you to see how beautiful it is over there. In my opinion it’s good to take a day off every now to fill up with some energy and get ready for some more studying and working. Especially if the day is spent in a good company you can expect lots of laughter which is a medicine for many problems. Life is too short to be wasted.

Take time and smell the roses…

Can we fall in love with the same person more times?

When you are with someone for a long period there are good and bad times. Sometimes you are so annoyed by each other that you might start thinking that you’d be better off single. Some people say being single is good. Is it? I haven’t been single for more than five years straight and I can’t say. The thing is that I started dating when I was 18 and now when I’m older I see things from different perspective, not just because being in relationship. I became more mature so to say. There are many things that form your personality, so it’s difficult to say what caused that. Anyway – from my perspective  its better to be in a relationship than being single. I’m still living with my parents, but I’d love to try to live with my boyfriend. It must be totally different being together nignt and day, than see each other a couple of times per week and once a while sleep over. But this is quite common in Slovenia. While being in Portugal and having a discussion according to that topic I found out that we are very different. In Slovenia we live at our parent’s place for long time and even later, when we get married, we usually stay in the same house, just in another floor than our parents do. If a couple has more children, one of them stays home with his new family and the other one goes to live in a house of his/her partner’s parents. In some years maybe they go on their own, but mostly they rather buy expensive cars and weekends for the money they save. When I told that to people in Portuguese course where we held this discussion they were shocked. They said this is neither healthy neither normal. You must have some privacy, if you are living with your parents they’ll always mess around. Houses in Slovenia are very big, so if you’d leave there’d be plenty of unused space. They say it’s cheaper to live together. But is it good? I don’t think so. So I’d like to live with my boyfriend on our own, when we’ll both be ready. And let me return on the title of this post. Can we fall in love with the same person more times? It happened to me. After bad times there are always good ones. That goes to every aspect of life, love including. And one day you realize how crazy you are about your partner. I love beginnings, when you feel butterflies in your stomach and when you are anxious waiting for message or call from him/her. And those butterflies can come again and you realise how lucky you are. In my opinion nothing is perfect, but if it makes you happy in long term – maybe this is it.
